I thought I would whet some appetites for The BFG today at school. So, after lunch, it was dark and gloomy and I am getting over the SBCS flu so my voice is a little raspy. And I began Chapter 1: Sophie in her bed at the orphanage and it is the "witching hour!"
ReplyDeleteYou could have heard the fish in the aquarium breathe as I described that big dark shape of a person coming after Sophie huddled under her covers!
This group of kids is now primed for this story. I hope some of you will get going on it. Of course it is not this scary after the first 3 chapters but oh, brother, it is the perfect example of a "grabber" beginning in more ways than one!!
Get your BFG voice ready and go for it...
by the way the kids figured out Big Friendly Giant so that helped take the edge off the scary start to the story!! Who needs Halloween! We had the BFG today!

Miranda and Luke are really enjoying this book. We read before bed each night and it is a good incentive to get them ready quickly! Even my husband is enjoying the reading.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Angie!
ReplyDeleteThat is what it is all about!
What about Ryan? Maybe I read it when he was in my class, but I don't think so...
